I am Andrei Cherascu, a science fiction author and lifelong music enthusiast with a master’s thesis in the music of Tom Waits. I’ve created The Music and Myth as a place to share my passion for this wonderful art form and its supremely descriptive nature.
The tagline is “Music as Storytelling” and the purpose of this website is to distance itself from music journalism as merely content writing. I aim to provide in-depth studies of some of the greatest records I’ve come across throughout the years, documenting my ever-evolving journey through the landscape of serious music.
You’ll find album and concert reviews, in-depth interviews with some of the world’s most gifted songwriters, like Sofia Rei, Al Di Meola, Terri Lyne Carrington and Patricia Barber as well as personal opinion articles, like The 7 best Tom Waits covers sung by women or The Music and Myth Awards. I tend to focus primarily on jazz and world music but I listen to a wide variety of genres.
At its core, The Music and Myth is a celebration of great music and the talented people who create it. So, have a look around, join the community, read, ask, comment and let me know about your favorite records.
