Premiere: Trumpeter Ben Holmes releases new single, ’43 Dollars, A Smile and Bulls**t’

On April 24, trumpeter and composer Ben Holmes is set to release his new album Naked Lore on Chant Records.

Fronting a trio that features guitarist Brad Shepik (Paul Motian, Dave Douglas, Charlie Haden, Carla Bley) and percussionist Shane Shanahan (Yo-Yo Ma, Bobby McFerrin, James Taylor, Aretha Franklin, Philip Glass) Holmes imagined his third album as “a soundtrack to the folk stories your grandparents vowed to forget”.

A dynamic and expressive program of chamber jazz, Naked Lore comprises nine original compositions that explore folkloric themes drawing from the forgotten chants and rites of ancient history.
