With their debut album due by the end of 2021, Cardiff-based experimental band Blue Amber release their new single, “Welsh Girl.”
Written and recorded in lockdown by lead vocalist and saxophonist Drew Noel, the song blends psychedelic hip-hop inspired by Kids See Ghosts with atmospheric folktronica in the vein of The Books.
“Welsh Girl came about during a tumultuous time in my life, the days and nights blending into each other, all sense of time lost,” Noel states. “The lyrics were inspired by vivid dreams and flashbacks of a past relationship against the backdrop of a country at war with itself.”
The track heavily samples American psych folk musician Jessica Risker’s “Anyway When I Look In Your Eyes.”
“Welsh Girl” is available on all major streaming services via Rose Parade Recording Company.
